Muppet Math is a 1991 educational computer game for the Apple IIe computer by Sunburst Communications, primarily for the Muppet Learning Keys keyboard. Sunburst also released four other Muppet programs: The Muppet Discovery Disk, Muppet Slate, Muppet Word Book and Muppetville.
The game opens with a cross-section view of a schoolhouse, with Kermit the Frog guiding the player to one of four play modes:
- Art Room: Kermit spray-paints four shapes onto an empty canvas. The player is prompted to find a particular shape among the four.
- Class Room: "Mr. Gonzo," standing behind a teacher's desk, quizzes the player on simple addition problems.
- Gymnasium: Miss Piggy performs a gymnastics routine, observed by Kermit and Fozzie Bear. The routine involves Jumps, Bends and Kicks. For each part of the routine, the player is asked how many of each action they want Miss Piggy to perform. During the routine, the player is periodically asked if Miss Piggy has completed the assigned number yet.
- Cafeteria: The Swedish Chef poses simple addition problems using cookies.
1995 version
The website Macintosh Repository has a listing for an updated 1995 version of the game, with improved graphics. In this version, the Swedish Chef's cafeteria has been replaced by a Music Room, where Kermit plays the banjo backed by Animal, Rowlf and Zoot.
The credits list "Voice Talents" for the game: Frank Oz, Steve Whitmire, Dave Goelz, Jerry Nelson, Richard Hunt and Jim Henson. This was several years after the deaths of Henson and Hunt, so presumably the voice clips used pre-existing material.
There does not appear to be any evidence that this version of the game was released.
