DRDs, short for Diagnostic Repair Drones, are mechanical devices that work on Leviathan ships. There are thousands of DRDs on Moya, capable of performing a wide range of tasks, from ship repairs to locating crew members' lost items.
As Leviathans grow, they create DRDs as needed. They are ovoid, with two flexible eyestalks with lights. DRDs are equipped with various tools, including lasers that can be used as a defensive measure. While Moya's DRDs are yellow in color, her gunship hybrid offspring Talyn has red ones. If the Pilot becomes incapacitated, crew members can use DRDs to communicate directly with Leviathans.
John Crichton has given nicknames to several DRDs, including One-Eye, Pike, and most notably, 1812.
