Winmortimer

Win Mortimer (1919-1998) was a comic artist best known for his long stint with DC Comics. For Marvel Comics, he penciled and inked every issue of The Electric Company tie-in Spidey Super Stories, including drawing Sam the Robot for the "Star Jaws" story. He illustrated the 1982 Sesame Street coloring book City.

Mortimer began his DC association in 1945, working on Batman and Superman titles (penciling and inking stories and as a frequent cover artist). He handled art for the Superman newspaper comic strip from 1949 until 1956, when he launched his own adventure strip David Crane. He returned to DC in the sixties, working on humor and kids titles like Stanley and His Monster and Fox and Crow as well as the superheroes. Outside of DC, Mortimer worked on the Gold Key The Twilight Zone comics and on several Marvel titles (including the occasional serious Spider-Man story, The Avengers, and Dracula Lives!).
