The Shack is a homestead located in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles, as featured in The Muppets Mayhem. The property is owned by Wax Town Records and was primarily used to put up talent signed to the label. The basement houses its own recording studio.

The Electric Mayhem (previous tenants during the 1970s) take up residence in the Shack again. The purpose is to develop and record their long-overdue album with Nora, although the occasional backyard party interrupts. Nora later moves in after a falling out with her sister Hannah.

The band discovers Cheech and Chong have been waiting in the basement for decades, anticipating the Mayhem's return with a promised pizza. In the season finale, another long-lost discovery is made: the Electric Mayhem Bus has been sitting in the garage (where nobody bothered to look).

Other artists who used the Shack in the past include The Mamas & The Papas, Sonny and Cher, Meat Loaf, Pink Floyd, and the Carpenters.

For production, the tower-like structure which served as Janice's room was made especially for the show. The tower's roof and the adjacent rooftop deck were added in during post production.[1][2]
