"Splish Splash" is a 1958 song performed and co-written by Bobby Darin. It was written with DJ Murray the K (Murray Kaufman), who bet that Darin couldn't write a song that started out with the words, "Splish Splash, I was takin' a bath", as suggested by Murray's mother, Jean Kaufman. The song was credited to Bobby Darin and "Jean Murray" (a compilation of their names) to avoid any hint of payola. The song helped to give Darin a major boost in his career, reaching number 3 in the U.S. pop singles charts.

• Elmo sang "Splish Splash" on the album Splish Splash: Bath Time Fun with various characters singing the chorus and chatting in the background, including Big Bird, Bert, Grover, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, Zoe, the Count, Baby Bear, Prairie Dawn, Biff, Roxie Marie, and the squeaks of Rubber Duckie. Betty Lou, Herry Monster, and Ernie are also given verbal mentions.

• A fish (performed by Steve Whitmire) sang the song on The Jim Henson Hour in episode 102.

• Sesame Place featured the song as part of their Rock Around the Block Parade.

• It was also performed in the Sesame Street Live show, Super Grover! Ready for Action.

• The original Bobby Darin recording of the song was also featured in a documentary segment on Sesame Street. In this one, employees at New York City's Bronx Zoo wash the elephants. (First: Episode 1934)
