The Octopus is the aquatic mollusk most frequently seen in Muppet productions. They share a phylum and class with squid. Unlike bears or frogs, these appearances often involve only a single octopus, as opposed to a group.
The Muppet Show
- Episode 312: James Coco - "Octopus' Garden"
- Episode 411: Lola Falana - Herbie the One-Octopus Band performs, Miss Piggy karate chops him.
- Episode 416: Jonathan Winters - An octopus attacks "Bear on Patrol"
- Episode 505: James Coburn - Three octopuses are attacked by Animal after playing an instrumental version of "Temptation." One of them is thrown into Statler and Waldorf's Box. Statler tries to get him out, but Waldorf jokes that the octopus is a family man because he has a wife and squids. To this, Statler and the octopus have Waldorf fall from the balcony. Later on, Waldorf's thrown off again when he jokes that his seat has been "octo-pied." At the end, the octopus has the two hecklers tied and gagged in his arms as he shouts out "More! More!" to which the latter try to protest "No! No!" in muffled tones.
