MuppetWorld.com was an official Muppets site run as an offshoot of Muppets.com under The Jim Henson Company's ownership. The website was online from 1999 until 2004, launched in conjunction with Columbia's summer 1999 movie, Muppets from Space. In 2005, after the Muppets were sold to the Walt Disney Company, the site redirected to Disney's first Muppets site, muppets.go.com.

The website, which required the Macromedia Flash plug-in to view, was designed by Dream Theater (Executive Producer, Darren Chuckry), under the creative direction and production supervision of Nicholas de Wolff. All activities, games, CGI characters, and other elements were developed, written, and designed in-house by Dream Theater. Script content was written by David Cohen and de Wolff, Art Direction by Steven Lin, animation by Mo Davoudian, and technology by Mark Arana.

The structure of the site was built around the theme of discovery and surprise. It wasn't always obvious what a particular area was, until the user clicked it and found out. Some actions led to brief Muppet video clips.

Features of Muppetworld.com included:

• Muppetworld Hub: A directory to other areas on the site, with an animated Kermit the Frog greeting the user with a friendly "Hi-ho!"
• A series of MuppetToons, 3D-polygon representations of Muppets involved in computer & Internet-based sketches.
• Muppet Studios: hosted by Miss Piggy
• Pepe's Shopping Carnival: a store featuring links to Muppet merchandise on Amazon.com, including sections for Videos, Records, Books, and Plush Toys. (There were no plush toys available at the time.) The interface also included fictional items like the Swedish Chef's "Buns of Steel" video; when a user clicked this, the Muppet would appear and do a brief joke.
• An interactive story based upon the 1999 film Muppets from Space.
• Animal's Bandstand: Mini-games starring Animal which included controlling the character to create sounds & songs.
• Whot's Cooking?: a cooking mini-game starring The Swedish Chef.
• Galactic Outpost: space-themed mini-games featuring Gonzo, to tie in with Muppets from Space.
• Muppet Labs: a mini-game in which the user assisted Bunsen Honeydew & Beaker in mixing colors.
• Fozzie's Cyberama: a Fozzie-related repository of jokes.
• Vox Mupuli: an area for Sam the Eagle.
• The Muppet World Central Operating System Switch: a big red button that makes a loud noise when clicked.

Columbia Tri-Star Home Video's The Very Best of the Muppet Show: Volume 2 included access to the MuppetWorld website.

The site was awarded the "Flashkit Featured Site of the Month" for May 2000.
