The Louvre is an art museum in Paris, France, situated in the Louvre Palace. Founded in 1793, the Louvre is one of the largest and most famous museums in the world. It houses such works of art as Venus de Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrace, and Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, among many others. The Louvre Pyramid, a large, glass and metal structure constructed in 1989, serves as the main entrance to the museum and has become a landmark of Paris.
During the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the Sesame Street characters (including Elmo and Slimey) visited the Louvre, posing for pictures and recording videos (Facebook) outside the Louvre Pyramid.
