James is an Anything Muppet boy who appears in Episode 5317 of Sesame Street. He is a rather fastidious child with a predilection to having things be "just right."

He joins his fellow Sesame Street youngsters in a reading of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" by Nina. When they decide to act out the story, James is given the role of narrator. He then protests Mia taking on the title role of Goldilocks, citing her hair and skin don't match the storybook; he feels Charlie looks the part much better. His friends help him understand that when playing pretend, looks are not important and that everyone deserves a chance to play whatever role they want.
