Oscar decides to put all these new words into a Grouchonary, but he can't write them down - he's broken all his pencils and glued the pages of his notebook shut. He becomes very upset, as he can't write anything down as Buster starts to spew out more Grouchonary-worthy words.

As he comments on the scores of the Mets game, David comes by to clear some dishes and offers Gordon some lemonade; Gordon isn't listening, but his comments regarding the sports page are misconstrued by David as a drink order.

Gordon realizes he's forgotten to put dinner in the oven and goes home for a moment. Just then, Maria takes a break from the Fix-It Shop and starts reading Gordon's paper, which conceals her when David drops off the lemonade, then tends to the phone. She thinks he's brought it just for her and she drinks it down. Refreshed, she heads back to work just before Gordon returns. His comments about the sports page again make David think he's responding to him about the lemonade.
