SCENE 1 | Big Bird wants to demonstrate the usefulness of the telephone by calling David to ask him what time it is. Despite there being a ticking alarm clock nearby, he proceeds to call David anyway but can't remember the number for Hooper's Store. He goes down the street to ask David in person, who provides him with the number. He goes back to his nest to call David only to find the line is busy. He returns to the store to tell David to keep the line free in case he gets an "important call." He returns to the store a third time to make sure that David doesn't leave the store as well. Finally, he gets connected with David and asks him what the time is. David doesn’t know because he doesn’t have his watch on him today. To solve this, Big Bird goes back to the store once again to give him his alarm clock. |

SCENE 3 | Big Bird shows the kids how quickly Linda can sign the alphabet. He believes she can sign it faster than David can say it, so they make a contest out of it. She ends up beating David, who then suggests that the kids (including John-John) give it a try as well; nobody is able to do it faster than Linda. When Linda shows how quickly she can count, Big Bird observes that "the hand is quicker than the tongue." (Blooper: The director can be heard saying "Action," at the top of this scene.) |
