SCENE 1 | Oscar reads Bob a joke from his Grouch Book of Riddles: "What did the rock say to the mud puddle? Nothing - rocks can't talk!" He tells Bob a different riddle about a rotten apple, but the punchline to it is the same as the last riddle. Bob thinks that the jokes aren't funny, which is precisely the point: Grouches don't like having fun. Oscar continues reading more riddles - all with the same punchline - irritating Bob further until he sounds like a Grouch himself. |
