To keep warm, Gordon calls Maria, Big Bird, and the kids over to play a rhyming game. Gordon tells them to do something that rhymes with “mop” (hop) and “save” (wave). Big Bird does something that rhymes with "cheer": disappear, and he pops out of frame.

Maria only wanted to see what was playing at the movies and lets Susan have the last newspaper, and both leave for some coffee. Big Bird, not wanting to partake in another fight, lets Gordon have his own paper.
