Edvard Munch (1863-1944) was a Norwegian expressionist painter and printmaker, who is well-known for his 1893 painting "The Scream".

- In the Aliens in the Family episode, "Meet the Brodys," Cookie Brody says how she wished Bobut didn't play with his food and cleans up the pudding mess on the wall that forms the painting, "The Scream."
- Bruce McNally spoofed the painting for the Grouch Art Museum in the April 2001 issue of Sesame Street Magazine.
