Dances with Wolves is a 1990 film based on a book of the same name. They both tell the story of a Civil War-era United States Army lieutenant who travels to the American frontier to find a military post and eventually befriends a local Sioux tribe. The movie won seven Academy Awards.

- As a nod to the book and film, a pig (Dances with Two-Left Feet) and a wolf (Twinkletoes) are reluctant to dance together in a Monsterpiece Theater sketch.
- The movie was also part of a series of interstitials made in 1999 which ran on the Odyssey Channel and were later released on Best of the Muppet Show as "Movie Mania."
- A Magical Halloween Adventure concludes with a pair of howling wolves, of one whom leaves for an audition for "Dances with Wolves: The Musical."
